‘Everyone Chokes Sometimes’- Taylor Fritz on His Main Issues

Taylor Fritz, the young American tennis professional with a career highest ranking of 16 and current ranking of 20, is currently taking part in Indian Wells. He has been performing splendidly up till now, securing his position in the quarterfinals. Although during his post-match conference after winning the fourth round, he spoke about what keeps him on in toes.
Upon being asked, whether his mentality or any physical attributes have changed, leading to him becoming a better player. Taylor responded by saying, “no, I think just having a lot of confidence in a lot of my shots, just playing better believing that, I mean, I am a better tennis player. I think that gives me the confidence to play these situations better.

“It’s not any kind of mental change, like, you know, I’ll still get nervous, you know everyone chokes sometimes. Like I said sometimes I blow matches and sometimes I come up clutch in matches. I think I’ve been coming out in these matches more often just because I have more confidence in my game, I have more confidence in my shots. So when it comes crunch time, i feel like, kind of, trust what I wanna do and trust my game.” he added.
A Possible Obstacle
Tennis is a game that requires a lot of mental strength, along with a positive attitude. Though it’s easy to demand bringing such a level of mental stability while in difficult situations, making it a reality is tough and Taylor addressed the same by saying,

“Probably just losing in the match that I feel like I should win. I’d say that’s the most high-pressure moment in tennis, it is kind of, like, losing a match that you probably should win or you are in a winning position. I’ve gotten a lot better just kind of taking care of those situations. Like I said you know, match with Munar would be one of those situations where I could see myself really really nervous because I don’t want to lose the match.”

Performance of Taylor Fritz up Till Now in Indian Wells
Taylor Fritz started the tournament in good spirits with the support of family and fans. Evidently, he’s been in his best form till now in the tournament. Taylor started his journey in Indian wells by crushing the Polish professional Kamil Majchrzak 6-1, 6-1. Next, he faced Jaume Munar in the 3rd round and won by winning the last tiebreaker. The entire scoring of the match was 6-4, 2-6, 7 (7)- 6.
