Carlos Alcaraz is not only winning tournaments this year but also winning hearts with his audacious displays on the court. At just 19, the Spanish sensation’s game has improved by leaps and bounds this season. He already has four titles in 2022, including two Masters tournaments. Further, he achieved an incredibly rare feat during the Madrid Open, defeating Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the same tournament and in consecutive matches.

Alcaraz enters the French Open 2022 high on confidence. He is in scintillating form, having won the Barcelona Open and the Madrid Open titles in the run-up to the clay-court Grand Slam tournament. Yesterday, he won the opening round clash against Juan Ignacio Londero comfortably. After the match, he talked about improving his game.

During the post-match press conference, the Spaniard took Rafael Nadal’s work ethic as motivation and said, “It was difficult at the beginning, but it’s always special to play in such a good stadium, a great court… I’m really happy with the performance in my first match in the Philippe Chatrier and I hope to play more matches in this court.”

Further, he added, “You have to improve every day (even) if you’re the best player in the world. Not in my case, but, for example, Rafa says that he’s improving every day. I would say that I have to improve everything. I’m reaching my dream, I’m really happy with playing tennis, playing these kinds of tournaments in these kinds of stadiums is not for everyone, so I would say that’s the best thing.”
