French tennis star, Richard Gasquet, was in the top half of the men’s singles draw that boasted the likes of Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Gasquet managed to reach the semifinals of the tournament that year, before losing out to Federer in the last-four clash. En route to the semifinal run, Gasquet knocked out the likes of Andy Roddick and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Further, over his career, the French tennis star has had a consistent run across big tournaments. Additionally, he helped France lift the Davis Cup title in 2017. Recently, the Frenchman has announced good news for his fans.

Gasquet’s 2022 season
With age not by his side, the 35-year-old Frenchman has had his prime days in tennis behind him. After missing the three previous editions of the Australian Open, Gasquet made a return to the tournament this year. After winning the opening round against compatriot, Ugo Humbert, Gasquet retired mid-way in the second round match against Botic van de Zandschulp.

Further, he had a disappointing Sunshine Double campaign, losing in the first rounds in Indian Wells and Miami. Once ranked as high as Number 7 in the world, Gasquet has dropped to the 77th position on the ATP rankings chart. However, the Frenchman will hope to come back strongly at Roland Garros starting later this month.
