“Going to Start Even Better Next Year”- Jannik Sinner After Creating History at ATP Sofia

Jannik Sinner has stolen the headlines of almost every newspaper after his incredible feat at the Sofia Open 2020. The 19-year-old stunned the tennis world after a beautiful display of gameplay and temperament. Sinner became the first player born after 2001 to win an ATP title which was also his first one.

In the finals, he defeated Vasek Pospisil in a nail-biting tie-breaker in the third set to clinch victory. The finals scoreline of the match was 6-4, 3-6, 7-6. Speaking after his victory, Jannik Sinner revealed how much the title meant to him. He even said that it was a very special moment for him.

“It is always special when you win tournaments. I felt well this week. Playing finals like this, 7-6 is always tough. But when you win, it is an even better win than winning 6-1, 6-1. I am happy how I tried to stay there at every point and I think it’s a very special week for me,” said an enthusiastic Sinner.

Clearly, nobody had expected the young player to outshine big players like Denis Adrian Mannarino and Vasek Pospisil in the tournament. However, Sinner showed immense dedication and became the 12th teenager to win an ATP title since 2005.

It’s definitely an ideal end everybody wants to have for the tennis season. Although Sinner was happy with his terrific win at the Sofia Open 2020, he believes that from now on, he would need to practice even harder.

“It is a great feeling ending the year with a tournament win. Now I think the hard work is going to start once more. I am going to start even better next year than I did this year,” added the motivated 19-year-old.

After tennis resumed, Jannik Sinner played some really great tennis. He was looking really good at the French Open 2020 before Rafael Nadal thrashed him in the quarters. Even at the ATP Cologne, he managed to reach the semis before getting knocked out by Alexander Zverev.

After his recent win, fans definitely have high expectations from Jannik Sinner. He would also look forward to start the 2021 season with more consistent performances.
