World no.1 Novak Djokovic lost his first match of the year to Daniil Medvedev in Doha on Friday. After that, he was hopeful of his entry to the US to participate in the Indian Wells and Miami Open. However, a decision that was feared by all Nole fans came true. The US Government has denied entry to the Serbian on grounds of his unvaccinated status. This news was posted by senator Rick Scott on his Twitter account just a couple of hours back.

Rick Scott is infuriated at the way Novak has been denied entry to the USA. He has raised questions to the Biden government for not being able to justify the stance that COVID-19 is over. Scott has also raised his voice several times after the initial tweet informing his followers about how the Biden government remains answerable to this decision.

Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, both senators of the United States wrote a letter to President Biden, asking him to allow Djokovic to land in the country. They argued that the government says that the pandemic scare is over now and by that logic, Djokovic has earned his place in the Miami Open and should be allowed to participate. Djokovic also applied for a special permit from the government as he confirmed in his presser on Friday in Dubai.

However, the Government has denied permission to Djokovic and to that Rick Scott tweeted, BREAKING: We have been told that @DHSgov just denied @DjokerNole‘s vaccine waiver request, making him ineligible to compete in the US next week in CA & in the @MiamiOpen. @JoeBiden must fix this NOW, grant the waiver & allow him to compete here in the states.”
