Juan Martin del Potro has announced his retirement from the game after a glorious career. However, due to numerous injuries, the Argentine could never fully fulfill his potential. The former US Open winner has kept an eye on other sports around the world since leaving tennis.

Del Potro was even present at Formula 1’s Miami Grand Prix in May getting a closer look at current Championship leaders – Red Bull Racing. Additionally, he even met with Mexican drivers Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen.

The former World No. 3 has become a fan of the sport keeping a tab on different races around the world during the season. After Verstappen’s narrow win in Canada, del Potro shared a photo of the Dutchman winning his 6th race of the 2022 season.

With the win, Verstappen extends his lead at the top of the Drivers’ standings over rival Charles Leclerc and teammate Sergio Perez. The defending champion started on the pole but was given a tough fight by Ferrari’s other driver – Carlos Sainz.

Del Potro: A legend of the game

He has also won 12 ATP singles titles, while also winning the Silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. In the process, he reached a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world. The Argentinian unfortunately suffered injuries to his wrist and knee keeping him out of the Tour for long periods. Finally, in March 2022, he decided to walk away from the sport at the age of 33.
