Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis started off the year in wonderful fashion. They bagged the Australian Open doubles title. However, now both the players are pitted against each other in the first round of the US Open.

This will be quite overwhelming for the current Australian Open doubles champions as they share a strong bond with each other. Nick Kyrgios conveyed a message to his opponent over social media, appreciating his quality.

Nick Kyrgios shares a message for Thanasi Kokkinakis before the US Open 

It is never easy to face a friend on the opposite side, especially when both of them shared important victories. However, being on a tennis court does not guarantee evasion of such a face-off forever.

The Wimbledon finalist took to his Instagram story to lift up the spirits of his good friend Kokkinakis and the audience. He stated on his Instagram story, “My brother, let’s give ’em a good show.”

Kokkinakis and Kyrgios won two doubles titles together this year. The first one was at the Australian Open and the second one was at the Atlanta Open. Besides that, it will be the players’ first time facing each other on the men’s main tour.

Kyrgios has come out on the court with a lot of passion and zeal this year. He started off on a good note and continued thriving till he reached his first grand slam final at Wimbledon.

He faced the Serbian tennis legend, Novak Djokovic, in the finals. Though he could not win the grand slam, the player gained vital experience. Then, the Aussie star went onto claim his first title of the year at the Citi Open. Along with that, he also won in the doubles category as well with his partner, Jack Sock.
