Novak Djokovic got into a big controversy when he traveled to Australia. The 35-year-old went there to defend his Australian Open title. However, as per the COVID-19 guidelines, he was unable to enter the country. Later, because of his unvaccinated status, Djokovic had to return from Australia and missed the Australian Open.

What Australians feel about Djokovic’s participation in the Australian Open 2023
Novak Djokovic got a lot of hate from the Australian citizens for challenging their government. While the majority of Australians were against allowing him to play last year, a few wanted him to be there. To be accurate, we take a look at the exclusive survey conducted by Resolve Strategic.
As per the results of the survey, earlier only 14 percent of Australians wanted Djokovic to play there, while 71 percent were against it. However, after a year and changes in the guidelines, the feelings of Aussies for Djokovic have changed significantly.

As per the fresh survey, 30 percent of Aussies are glad to have him in the Australian Open 2023. While 41 percent are still against it. It means that the number of people who want Djokovic in the Australian Open has doubled now. However, the majority of people are still against him.

Novak Djokovic is the most successful player in the history of the Australian Open
Novak Djokovic made his debut at the Australian Open in 2005. He could not go past the first round. The story was the same for him the next year as well. Next year in 2007, he reached the fourth round. The Serb had his first title run down under in his fourth attempt. He won the 2008 Australian Open title.
The next two years saw Djokovic reach the quarterfinals. He claimed the title for the second time in 2011 and successfully defended it in 2012 and 2013. After missing out in 2014, he won back-to-back titles in 2015 and 2016.
