Rafael Nadal’s legion of fans is eagerly awaiting his first match in six months on the ATP Tour. On Wednesday night, Rafael Nadal will finally step on the court, in his first-round match at the Italian Open.

To add to the excitement for the fans, the world number two will step out sporting the special edition Nike shoes that he and golf legend Tiger Woods recently collaborated for. The Spanish superstar announced on Twitter, that he will play his first match since the hiatus, in the Nike Men’s Rafa X Tiger Vapor Cage 4 Tennis Shoes.

Features of the special shoe

The new product was released recently as a limited edition offering. It the latest effort by Nike to draw more fanfare towards its products and the sport. And it is doing that with the help of two of the biggest sporting icons on its roster. The product features Nadal’s logo on the right shoe and Woods’ logo on the left shoe.

Nike’s iconic swoosh logo is displayed with silver outlining, giving the shoes a classic look. The product comes in a black and silver combination. Many advanced features on the shoe make them ideal for the rough usage on the tennis courts, which is even more on clay courts.

When Tiger cheered for Rafael Nadal

The camaraderie and mutual respect shared by Rafael Nadal and Tiger Woods are well known. Last year, at the US Open, Woods was in the stands on Arthur Ashe Stadium. He cheered for Nadal and even got out of his seat and celebrated after a particular point. Nadal won that point in his 4th round match with an unbelievable shot.

Recently, Woods spoke again about Nadal and also the likes of Roger Federer and Serena Williams. He hailed them for their longevity and consistency.

“I think that whether it’s Rafa or Fed or Serena, they’ve been so consistent and so dominant for such a long period of time. That’s how you get to have those all-time marks,” Woods said in an interview.

The friendship between Nadal and Woods and now their new collaboration for the shoe is exciting for both sets of fans to watch.
