The American tennis player, Tommy Paul stunned the entire sporting community in the United States after reaching the quarterfinal round of the Australian Open. Not just the fans, but also his compatriots on the tour have been hugely impressed by his incredible run in Melbourne.

Notably, other American ATP stars like Taylor Fritz, Reilly Opelka, and Frances Tiafoe are enjoying his success at the Grand Slam event. He further revealed different ways, his fellow players are showing their support to him.

During the post-match press conference, Tommy Paul was asked whether he was contacted by his American counterparts after his incredible performances at Australian Open. He answered by saying that a lot of his compatriots have been in constant touch with him recently. Paul mentioned the name of his fellow American, Reilly Opelka who has been giving him all of his scouting reports.

The American further revealed that Opelka has basically been his coach during the week in Melbourne.

Later on, he also mentioned another American ATP player, Taylor Fritz. While talking about Fritz, he said, “Taylor has been sending me, like, some stupid-a** memes on Instagram. That’s about it.”

Tommy also revealed that his fellow player asked him whether he was coming to L.A. after the tournament. However, he denied him by saying that he is supposed to go to Uzbekistan for Davis Cup.

The Australian Open quarterfinalist also said that another American star, Frances Tiafoe is rooting for him. He said, “Big Foe has been shooting me some messages. Everyone is pretty supportive, you know.”

Paul will now play against his compatriot in Melbourne

After an incredible run during the tournament, the American ATP star has now reached the quarterfinals rounds in Melbourne. He will now play against his fellow American, Ben Shelton, in order to book a place in the semifinals of the Australian Open.

Paul has already beat some of the best players on the tour including the Spaniard, Roberto Bautista Agut. He also outclassed other top stars including Jan-Lennard Struff, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, in the initial rounds of the tournament.
