After an incredible US Open 2021, it’s time to witness some superb tennis at the Laver Cup 2021. Started by Roger Federer and his TEAM 8, even though the tournament didn’t take place last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has enjoyed tremendous success in its last three editions.
Surprisingly, Roger Federer will miss the Laver Cup 2021. He is currently undergoing a knee surgery and thus, will not be able to compete in Boston. However, in a recent interview, the Swiss Maestro admitted that he would like to captain Team Europe one day and would love to continue getting involved with the Laver Cup in the future.
“I definitely see myself being involved. I’d love to be the captain one day. I think it’s a beautiful way of getting the rivals to coexist for a week together,” said Federer in the interview.

Federer also talked about the positives of the Laver Cup. He stated that it gives even rivals a platform to come together and share the court. The 40-year-old also mentioned that although players don’t usually help each other, they get to even cheer for one another at the tournament.
“It really is truly fun and cool to share the locker room with these guys who you usually share it with, but don’t talk tactics and see how everybody prepares and actually support one another. Normally you don’t cheer against each other, but you don’t really mind if they win or lose. This time it’s very different,” added the 20-time Grand Slam champion.
