Roger Federer is not new to giving interviews. Being one of the biggest tennis celebrities, the 20-time Grand Slam winner has given numerous interviews during his 2-decade-long career. However, what happens when the Swiss master attends a Spanish interview?

Going back in time, in 2009, Roger Federer attended an interview with the multinational news network, CNN. While it looked like any other interview, things turned to the hilarious side when the journalist, Pedro Pinto, started asking questions in Spanish.

2009 was one of the most successful years for Roger Federer, as he won a total of 4 titles that year. Out of the four, one was Wimbledon, and the other one was his only French Open title. Apart from the two grand slams, he also reached the finals of the Australian Open and the US Open.

Amongst the many interviews that he attended after his impressive results, was the CNN interview with journalist Pedro Pinto. The interview started with the two conversing in English. However, little did Federer know that the interview had to be broadcasted on CNN English, as well as CNN Espanol (Spanish).

As per the show format, Pedro first had to question Federer in English. After which, he had to repeat the same questions in Spanish. Following the question in English, Pedro went ahead with the Spanish repetition. However, not being able to control his laughter, Federer put no filter as he laughed uncontrollably.

As seen in the video, the two gave it numerous tries. However, not being able to control his laughter, Federer kept cracking up every time Pedro started with the Spanish part.

The 2009 season for Federer

Being at his best, Federer played a total of 15 tournaments in the 2009 season. Looking at the records, the Swiss maestro reached at least the semifinals in 12 of the 15 tournaments. Looking at the Grand Slam performances, he first reached the final of the Australian Open, suffering defeat against arch-rival Rafael Nadal in an intense 5-set match.

Going ahead, he finally got his long-awaited win at the French Open. Being motivated to show his dominance on the Parisian clay, Federer outplayed Robin Soderling in straight sets to win his only French Open title to date. Further ahead, he continued his dominance at the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, winning his 6th Wimbledon title.

Looking to make it three Grand Slam titles in 2009, he reached the finals of the US Open. However, Federer was defeated by the Argentine, Juan Martin Del Potro.
