World No.1 Novak Djokovic is facing some serious issues in his quarter-final match against Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Italian Open 2021. Even though the Serbian legend made a great comeback in the second set and restored parity, Tsitsipas is really testing his patience. Djokovic is not looking in control of his shots and seemed very angry at one point of time.
Djokovic got off to a good start in the third set as he won the first game quite easily. However, World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas didn’t lose his momentum and struck back to equalize the scoreline. The Greek player played some beautiful forehands in the subsequent game and thus, broke past Djokovic. He was leading 2-1 now and following this, fans witnessed something extraordinary.

Novak Djokovic was so angry with his performance that he threw his racquet hard on the ground. It smashed into pieces and Djokovic let loose a yell after the racquet smash.
The Serb was clearly annoyed and even during the break as he was muttering to himself. It was a clear sign of frustration and Djokovic was certainly not happy with the way he’d played the third game of the third set.

Novak Djokovic has had a history of breaking and smashing tennis racquets. He has done so at the ATP Cup 2020, US Open 2020, and even did it last year at the Italian Open 2020.

Last year in Rome, he claimed that he tries to avoid these things but they happen. It definitely doesn’t suit the World No.1 player, and he has received a lot of backlash over his racket smashes in the past as well.
