‘A Very Judgmental Narrative That Fits Your Agenda’ – Novak Djokovic’s Wife Jelena Djokovic Rips Apart a Journalist for His Strong Statement Against Her Husband

Novak Djokovic has had a dream run at the recently concluded Wimbledon Championships. In a thrilling summit clash, he defeated Australia’s Nick Kyrgios to win his 21st Grand Slam title. Moreover, he did it in style, putting on a statement showing in the finals. Although Kyrgios came out all guns blazing in the first set, the Serb maintained his composure to prevail over his opponent for the first time.
Looking at this year, it has been a wonderful comeback by Djokovic after the events in Australia earlier this season. He was disallowed from playing at the Australian Open after being deported from Australia due to his stand on vaccination. Following these events, he lost form and made early exits at tournaments. However, the Wimbledon victory may have come at the right time for Djokovic, who was looking to uplift his season. Following his match against Kyrgios, his wife, Jelena Djokovic, got into a heated argument with a journalist on social media.

Djokovic’s wife argues with a journalist about his US Open participation
Renowned journalist Ben Rothenberg took to Twitter to comment about Djokovic’s participation at the US Open. He said, “Unless there is a swift change in US immigration law, Wimbledon will be Djokovic’s last Grand Slam event of the year. US requires vaccination for foreigners to enter, and Djokovic has firmly said he has ruled out getting vaccinated, entrenching himself as an anti-vax posterboy.”
However, his comment didn’t go down well with Novak’s wife, Jelena Djokovic, who hit back, saying, “Excuse me. Just making sure that it is noted that YOU tagged him as antivax poster boy for whatever reason you have. He simply responded what HIS body choice is.”

Subsequently, the journalist replied, “I understand that it’s his choice, but I also am saying that his decision to be so firmly against the vaccines that it limits his ability to play tournaments has made him, unwittingly or not, into a huge icon of the anti-vax movement. I saw this very clearly during Australia.”

Ripping apart the journalist, Jelena replied, “You are creating a very judgmental narrative that fits your agenda. He is simply choosing what’s best for his body. If he is not playing because of making that choice, he is fine with it.”
