Roger Federer and Serena Williams have been among the most decorated players in tennis. Over the last two decades, they have enthralled tennis fans with their scintillating performances on the tennis court. The two have garnered fans worldwide, becoming icons of the sport.

Recently, Williams and Federer have been sidelined from tennis due to their respective injuries. They last played at Wimbledon Championships in 2021. Subsequently, the American legend suffered a hamstring injury while Federer’s troubles continued with his knee problems. As a result, fans have missed witnessing these two legends on the court for close to a year now. Recently, former World Number 4 Tim Henman urged them to make a comeback soon.

Tim Henman wishes to see Serena Williams and Roger Federer play Grand Slams

During an interview, the British tennis legend talked about watching Serena and Federer on the big stage. He said, “I think it would be amazing if they can get back on the court and on a big, big stage; maybe at a Grand Slam. I think that is what their careers have been about. They are icons of our sport; they have won so many major titles.”

Further, he added, “So to see them back at a Grand Slam would be amazing, but it is not easy to plan. As you say, they’re not getting any younger and hopefully, the opportunity will be there for them and for us as fans.”

Federer and Serena to suffer a major blow to their rankings

Earlier this month, the governing bodies of tennis decided to strip Wimbledon of ranking points for this year’s tournament. This decision was taken as a result of Wimbledon’s ban on Russian and Belarusian athletes. Thus, even if Federer and Serena participate at Wimbledon this year, they’ll lose the ranking points earned last season.
