New Zealand’s Ross Taylor got a lifeline by the decision review system (DRS) in the ongoing Boxing Day Test. Australia captain Tim Paine came up with a sledge in the middle. Paine said that maybe Taylor knows the person who was in charge of dealing with ball-tracking, as he was heard saying ‘maybe, he knows the bloke’.

The incident took place in the 14th over of New Zealand’s innings where James Pattinson trapped Ross Taylor before the stumps. The on-field umpire given him out but the Kiwi batter chose to review the decision. Moreover, the ball-tracking also showed that the delivery was missing the leg-stump.

Cricket.com.au’s official handle took to Twitter and tweeted the video of the incident with the caption: “He knows the bloke in the truck”.

“That’s twice I have seen him dead out plumb and not given. Broady (Stuart Broad) hit him on the pad in New Zealand, that was absolutely hitting middle-stump and missing leg. He knows the bloke in the truck,” Tim Paine says from behind the stumps.

Taylor also replied by citing: “…I actually hit that one in New Zealand.”

Australia posted a decent total on day two at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on the back of a century from Travis Head. Along with him,  Marnus Labuschagne (63), Steve Smith (85) and Tim Paine (79) contributed well and they ended up scoring 467. Neil Wagner picked up 4 wickets while Tim Southee took 3, Colin de Grandhomme bagged 2 wickets and Trent Boult scalped 1 for New Zealand.

In the second innings, New Zealand put up 44/2 before the stumps. New Zealand lost their opener, Tom Blundell, very cheaply (15 off 19). Captain Kane Williamson also failed to contribute much with the bat as James Pattinson removed him for mere 9. Ross Taylor and Tom Latham are unbeaten in the middle.
