Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur have been ruled out of Australia’s Davis Cup qualifiers against Brazil next week. Kyrgios and de Minaur were included in Australia’s squad which was announced last week. However, the two are dealing with respective injuries which have forced them to sit out for Australia’s next Davis Cup tie.

Kyrgios is battling with a left wrist injury that forced him out of the Mexican Open 2020 this week. On the other hand, de Minaur has aggravated an abdominal injury which sidelined him from the Australian Open 2020.

“Both are disappointed”: Lleyton Hewitt

“When we announced the team earlier in the week we were hopeful they both would be healthy to play,” Australia captain Hewitt said. “As seen in Acapulco during the week Alex’s abdominal injury has flared up. Nick has a wrist complaint, and they need to rest and focus on their recovery.”

“Both are disappointed, both guys love playing in the team environment and playing for Australia. It’s not an easy decision. However, at the end of the day, you have got to go off the medical advice,” Hewitt added.
