Shaquille O’Neal had an illustrious NAB career spanning 19 years. He won four NBA championships in his career and is still very famous more than a decade after his retirement from the game. Shaq is followed by a lot of people around the world and his opinions often influence a lot of people.

Shaq has always had expressed his opinion on the importance of health and safety protocols explicitly. In fact, he has previously blasted Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving for not complying with the same.

Kyrie Irving missed the start of the season due to his non-compliance with the health and safety protocols of the City of New York. However, the Nets went through injury issues earlier last month and called him up for the road games. Shaquille O’Neal has recently had a change of heart, and he made some controversial statements leading to a backlash.

Former Lakers star Shaq hosted ‘The Big Podcast with Shaq‘ and addressed the backlash he faced for his recent controversial comments.

“I say what I say based on what I’ve said. Whoever likes it, whoever don’t like it to my problem. Whoever, don’t like it, I understand why you don’t like it,” Shaq said.

Shaq’s change of heart, related to the health and safety protocols, comes after previously slamming Kyrie Irving. However, Shaq, being Shaq, said that he doesn’t care if some don’t like his opinion on the same. He also admitted that his mother, Lucille, is the only one who controls what he says and does.

Shaq’s mother, Lucille O’Neal, is currently the president of Mothers of Professional Basketball Players Association. Apart from this, she also dedicates her time to philanthropy. Lucille has also established the Odessa Chambliss Center for Health Equity on Bethune Cookman University’s campus.
