The LSU Tigers will face off against the Michigan State Spartans tonight in the NCAA Tournament. The two teams are 3rd and 2nd in the table and will be raring to go at each other.
The Spartans had a tough fight against the Bradley Braves winning 76-65. The LSU Tigers had an even closer fight, winning 69-67 against the Maryland Terrapins. Now, the two teams will square off against each other and the SBS March Madness guide offers some great advice on the upcoming games, including a newsletter with their own value picks.
Going by current form, the Spartans are the six-point favorites according to the odds. Granted, Michigan State got off to a sluggish start against the Braves but regained momentum to register a victory.
Against Minnesota, they rocketed to a 70-50 triumph in a typical March Madness manner. Fans have grown used to seeing such a performance especially from teams coached by Tom Izzo.
The Spartans’ form is such that they won seven of their last eight regular-season games including a Big Ten Tournament title. With the likes of Cassius Winston, Kenny Goins and Nick Ward, the Spartans will be a force to reckon with in the remaining 2019 NCAA bracket.
However LSU are no pushovers as they have overcome the loss of head coach Will Wade. Wade has been suspended indefinitely pending a federal investigation. So, interim coach Tony Benford stepped up to the plate to guide the Tigers past Yale and later held off Maryland in a tight 69-67 victory, courtesy a bucket from Tremont Waters in the closing seconds.
LSU has been tough in this situation all season, going 6-1 against-the-spread as an underdog. The Tigers feature an offense that averages over 80 points per game and have eight players who see regular minutes, four of whom average at least 10 points.
