Rashid Khan along with the whole Adelaide strikers team fell victim to an “April Fool” prank in the New Year season during their Big Bash League (BBL) 2019/20 match, with Australian umpire Greg Davidson being the prankster.

Rashid Khan was bowling the 16th over of the Melbourne Renegades innings. On the fourth ball of the over, Rashid had an LBW shout against Beau Webster. For a moment, it looked like the umpire was raising the finger in a slow, dramatic Rudi Kortzen fashion. This moment was enough for the Afghanistan leg spinner to celebrate the wicket, but if only had he waited for another second. The umpire took his hand only until his nose. The Strikers were already celebrating by then, and the umpire had to shout out his decision again.

A video of the eventually hilarious incident was obtained from Twitter.

Although Rahsid Khan did not claim a wicket in the over, it turned out to be a great over in the context of the match. He conceded just six runs at a time when the required run rate was close to 12.
Rashid was also named the man of the match for his figures of 2-15 from four overs. Speaking to the broadcasters after receiving the award, Rashid admitted to have taken the incident in a lighter sense and deemed it to be “very funny.”
“I started celebrating,” he said. “I was shocked and when I watched the replay, it was very funny.”
