The practice sessions were customary sessions for snowboarders. Thus, during a jump, she suffered a heavy fall from a tall slope that led her motionless for some time. When the paramedics came to tend her, she cried in pain as she felt the full force of the impact.

Moving her was an impossible task at first, as she suffered a spinal fracture from diagnosis. Hence, the medics took some time to get her from her precarious position.

After receiving medical treatment in China, she would be shifted back to Japan, for further treatment. After years of practice, it is sad to see an athlete’s dreams being crushed at the last moment.
