Today, both of them won their Singles matches to pull off an incredible comeback to send Australia into the semis. Groth beat Kukushkin 6-3, 7-6(6), 4-6, 7-6(6) and later veteran Hewitt defeated Nedovyesov 7-6(2), 6-2, 6-3 to seal the remarkable comeback. For the first time in 76 years, Australia managed to win a tie after being 0-2 down. They will take on the winner of the quarter final between Great Britain and France in the World Group semifinals in September. “I love the backs to the wall situation and we had to rally together to get the win,” Hewitt said after the match. “You don’t get opportunities like this very often. This is what dreams are made of.” he added. Britain now require another win to make the semifinals since 1981. Will Britain make the cut?
