The hottest show of the Summer, WWE SummerSlam 2019 came to an end with Seth Rollins holding the WWE Universal Championship title. Tons of exciting things happened tonight. Legends from a different generation fought the new generation superstars, the voice of the voiceless emerge victorious again and so on. So let’s list out the best and worst things that have happened tonight at SummerSlam.

Best Things at SummerSlam:

The Fiend Debuts:

The night witnessed the much anticipated in-ring debut of The Fiend. Without a doubt, this was one of the best things that have happened tonight. WWE has been building this new persona of Bray Wyatt’s for weeks now. The Fiend has attacked legends such as Kurt Angle and Mick Foley. And now it’s Finn Balor’s turn to be a victim of the Mandible claw.

The entrance of the Fiend was very spooky, and it just changed the atmosphere fo the whole arena instantly. It’s great that the FIend looked so dominant in his first match, and it’s even more interesting considering the fact that this fight may lead to a showdown between The Fiend and The Demon Kane. But WWE has to portray The Fiend as an unstoppable force to be reckoned with for sure.

Kofi Kingston new side:

Now you can’t say it’s a heel turn, but we saw a more intense Kofi tonight when Kofi fought Randy Orton. The rivalry and grudge between these two were obvious from the way Kofi fought Orton. Orton did what he does best, and got inside of Kofi’s head when he tried to humiliate him in front of his family. Then Kofi went berzerk and started assaulting Orton. It was not about the title anymore for Kofi.

Now Kofi needed this change of attitude for sure. Kofi’s title reign has been full of emotions and great storytelling but it wouldn’t have lasted longer solely by always portraying Kofi as a nice guy. It gets even less compelling with Seth Rollins being the WWE Universal Champion who is another babyface of the company. But we can safely expect to see the rivalry between Kofi and Orton continue.

Charlotte Flair beats Trish Stratus:

Charlotte Flair undoubtedly is the top heel when it comes to women’s division and WWE needs to put her in title picture soon. Her match with Trish was entertaining and meaningful. Now some fans might not be too happy about the fact that Trish Stratus lost her match in her home, but she did put on a valiant effort and entertained the rowdy Canadians in the arena.

It was nice to see WWE push its heel with a victory over a legend and a Hall of Famer such as Trish Stratus.

Kevin Owens Wins:

Finally, something good came out of weeks of pointless segments from Shane Mcmahon. cause we have our new voice of the voiceless in Kevin Owens. It was satisfying for the WWE fans to see Shane take a beating. And with that Kevin stays in WWE.

Kevin won the match with a low blow and then a stunner to pin Shane for 3 counts. It would be interesting to see who Kevin Owens faces next. As long as it’s not “The Authority” it would be compelling for the fans.

Worst things at SummerSlam:

Goldberg’s squash match with Dolph:

Agreed the match was one of the typical Goldberg’s match where he seemed invincible and destroyed his opponent. But what purpose does this match server to what’s coming next? Dolph Ziggler has been the victim of this never-ending cycle where he gets into a feud just to lose.

And how the match between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler is going to be intriguing when Dolph just got destroyed the night before. WWE definitely needs to push its heels more often.

Seth Rollins victory over Lesnar:

I have ambivalent feelings towards this result. It was great to see Seth overcome the beast, but what’s next for Brock Lesnar. Rollins can have some great feuds with other superstars on the roaster. But the way WWE has portrayed Lesnar, he has to be in the main event. So where does he go next?

Does Lesnar fight to be the no 1 contender, or does he fight someone from the past with whom he had a rivalry before? It’s hard to comment on this outcome without the knowledge of the future storylines. But it was a great match and nobody would have complained if Brock had won the match. At least, the Universal Champion will be there on every RAW from now on.
