Joe Burrow did not get the desired collective result at the end of his NFL debut. However, he did manage to showcase his skills in the narrow 13-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday.

Burrow completed 23 of his 36 attempted passes and threw for 193 yards against one interception. He almost carried the Bengals to a fourth-quarter comeback, but fell short in the dying stages of the game.

The Iowa-born athlete seems focused on making a mark in the league this year. But he refuses to get carried away ahead of the upcoming Week Two clash against the Cleveland Browns.

Joe Burrow not getting carried away by Thursday’s prime-time slot against the Browns

The Cincinnati Bengals star made his presence felt in the narrow loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. Burrow went up against some of the best cornerbacks in the league and almost guided the Bengals to OT in the fourth quarter.

However, the Chargers held on to secure a win. Regardless, Burrow’s calm character in crunch situations showed why Head Coach Zac Taylor rates him so highly.

“I said going into the season, I thought he was a B+ prospect, I thought he was Tony Romo…. and I thought Burrow was a good player. I think the comparisons to Brady and Manning are stupid, it’s too much pressure on the kid, I mean he had one really good year in college.

“But I gotta tell you when you consider the circumstances, I thought he was really good,” Cowherd said on his show.

Burrow will face his next big test in the league in the form of the underperforming Cleveland Browns on Thursday. It’s going to be the battle of two former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks. Baker Mayfield will be under far greater pressure as compared to Burrow.
