Bianca Andreescu Ousts Caroline Wozniacki at US Open 2019

The 15th-seed Bianca Andreescu cracked in the top-ten rankings on the WTA roaster after she earned her ticket to the third round at US Open 2019. In the third round, she set up an encounter against the former World Number one, Caroline Wozniacki.

With her win over, Wozniacki, the Toronto girl, Bianca Vanessa Andreescu sails into the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career. She appeared for her third-round match after losing her doubles match and defeated Wozniacki, 6-4, 6-4 at Flushing Meadows.

It was her maiden appearance on the Arthur Ashe Stadium rather, she played on the biggest court of tennis for the first time and produced a victorious result.

The WTA women took off by exchanging breaks in the opening set. At 3-3, Andreescu came up with a backhand dry volley and earned a break point, while Wozniacki was serving, a massive backhand return on the Dane’s serve the teenage sensation led by 4-3 in the first set.

A forehand drop shot, serve aces and with Wozniacki making errors aided the Canadian teenagerBianca Andreescu to consolidate her break at 5-3. Then, the Canadian number one served out the opening set 6-4.

Sting like Bee-ance!

After the first set, the two-time US Open finalist, Wozniacki bandaged her right ankle. She seemed to bear with some pain on her foot while she tried reaching a backhand at the back of the court during the first set.

Caroline’s errors prevailed in the second set and without tussling on the court and playing some magnificent tennis on her serves, Andreescu held a 3-0 lead in the second set. Wozniacki avenged for one of her breaks and later she produced from winners on the court and stayed in the match 3-2, after saving break back points.

Wozniacki peaked by winning 10 out of the next 11 points and fixed the set score at 3-3 by breaking back the Canadian once again. Later, the Dane couldn’t take a lead in the set and dropped her next service game at 4-3 as Bianca’s forehand winners dominated.

Once again the ladies traded their service games at 4-4. The similar trend continued in the next game and Andreescu led by 5-4. Serving for a place in the fourth round, the Canadian closed out the match by striking some winners.
