Borna Coric Opens Up on Coping with Pressure Due to Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer Comparison

Borna Coric was named the ATP Star of Tomorrow after being the youngest player in the Top 100. Recently, the 23-year-old Croatian lost his chance to win yet another ATP 500 title at the St. Petersburg Open, against the Russian Andrey Rublev 7-6(5), 6-4. Now, the Croatian has spoken about dealing with the pressure that he often has to deal with.
Coric feels no pressure
A few years after turning pro in 2013, Coric was all set to engrave his name in the tennis world. But no glory comes without a price. With injuries and setbacks meeting him at every turn, the next Djokovic confessed to never carrying any additional pressure on himself.

“I haven’t felt any additional pressure, I am being honest here – the only pressure I feel is when I look at myself in the mirror, I need to know that I have done everything in my power to be the best I can be,” said the 24 seed.

Borna has two singles titles to his name, namely Halle in 2018 beating Roger Federer 7-6, 3-6, 6-2, and before that (his maiden title) Marrakech in 2017 against Phillip Kohlschreiber 5-7, 7-6(3), 7-5.
Borna Coric: The next best?
Remarks and predictions are certainly a part of the culture, no matter the sport. Such was also the case with Borna Coric. The ATP Star of Tomorrow was seen as one of the best in tennis and was regularly linked with the current World No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Coric said, “But still, you get used to hearing that you are the best, that you are the next Novak or the next Federer – then my expectations have become unrealistic thinking I was going to be Top 10 quickly, but it doesn’t work that way.”
As far as the future is concerned, if Coric continues to put in the hard work, fans can expect to see the best of him on the court very soon.
