54-Year-Old Mike Tyson Gives Unique Take on Boxing: ‘It’s a Form of Insanity’

Heavyweight historian, Mike Tyson, laced up the boxing gloves when he was a kid. Building on his interest, Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion ever and a global icon with his unparalleled dominance in the sport. In his 20-year-long career, ‘Iron’ Mike registered 50 wins; 44 of them came via KOs.
That said, the 54-year-old veteran recently gave a unique insight into the sport and opined that fighters need to carry some “insanity” to step up inside the ring. While Tyson has been through umpteen in-ring battles, he understands boxing to the core.
In his recent podcast with Devin Haney, the former champion said, “I know people would privately agree to me, but they wouldn’t say it publicly. It’s a form of insanity, it’s a small form of insanity involved with that. How do you go into the ring with a guy you don’t even know, never did nothing to you and then you want to kill him like he f**** attacked your family or something.”

Tyson further billed boxing as an “art” and acknowledged the importance of dedication to it. He added that it’s called discipline, which is something people don’t understand. He called it art and claimed that there aren’t any emotions involved, but emotions come to the fore and attract the people’s attention.
