Oscar De La Hoya was really pleased with the show that Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. put on. The pair met in a Heavyweight boxing exhibition which ended in a draw. However, Tyson looked like the more impactful boxer.

Nonetheless, the performance definitely offered fighters of the past the hope of a chance to rekindle the fire of their youth in the form of a return to the squared ring.

One boxer who seemingly likes this idea is De La Hoya. Oscar is currently the promoter at Golden Boy Promotions and had fighters like Ryan Garcia fighting under his banner.

He has even had forays into MMA, where he put up the third fight of the Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz rivalry. Ortiz won that fight and proved exactly why old men shouldn’t come back to MMA. However, boxing seems to be a different ball-game altogether.

De La Hoya caught the Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.’s fight and sent his good wishes to the fighters and rapper Snoop Dogg, who performed and was on the commentary desk.

“My utmost respect to Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. You guys rock. Age is just a number baby. And Snoop Dogg, you the man.”

Oscar De La Hoya actually making a comeback?

De La Hoya is currently 47 years old and his last outing in the ring took place in 2008. He lost to Manny Pacquiao in his last fight, retiring with a 39-6 record. However, De La Hoya is significantly younger than both Tyson and RJJ.

Along with that, he has kept himself in shape throughout his retirement. A comeback for him, considering he is also in a lighter weight class, seems much more feasible.

However, De La Hoya doesn’t have the same appeal to casual fans as he once did. He can’t fight any legitimate stars from the MMA world or any of the legitimate Welterweights in boxing.

However, he could take a fight against someone like Jake Paul. But that clearly has a lot of downsides as well. Hopefully, De La Hoya makes a smart and strategic comeback and not like the one he tempted Chuck Liddell to make.
