Are Andy Ruiz Jr. and Chris Arreola Friends?

Former unified heavyweight champion, Andy Ruiz Jr., will return to action soon. He is rumored to fight Chris Arreola on his comeback as he seeks to revive himself in the heavyweight title picture. This will be an interesting battle, as he will battle someone from his past.

A decade ago, Andy Ruiz Jr. and Chris Arreola weren’t the superstars of the sport. But, they had begun to craft their way, and ‘The Destroyer’ had opened up on his views over Arreola in an interview.

ES News brought the throwback video where Ruiz Jr. spoke about his “friend” Arreola. The Mexican praised his sparring partner for several reasons, but also saw a loophole in his game.

Andy Ruiz Jr. said, “Chris Arreola is a very good friend of mine, Like we were sparring and all that.”

He commented on Arreola’s fight against Klitschko, “Chris Arreola was doing good. He just needs a little more head movement, but I give my friend a lot of props and he got ba** and all that, just a little more head movement.”

The former friends may collide against each other soon, but the fight is still not official. However, Ruiz Jr. took to social media and revealed that he will announce his return date soon.

‘The Destroyer’ shifted his training camp to Eddy Reynoso’s stable a few months back and is currently honing his skills alongside Ryan Garcia, Oscar Valdez, Canelo Alvarez amongst others. He has also shed some pounds. So, the ongoing training camp isn’t just a normal boxing regime for Ruiz Jr. He is also looking after his physique.

Under new training rules, ‘The Destroyer’ can turn more treacherous. He already had power and skills. Now, he is adding pace and physical variants.

While the Mexican has also sparred with Arreola in the past, he understands his opponent to the core. Thus, he will clearly have the advantage ahead of a big return.
