Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya have been back and forth about each other since their feud. The defeat of the Mexican against Dmitry Bivol stunned the entire globe. As a result, even his old promoter weighed in on the matter.

Canelo Alvarez commented about De La Hoya’s remark by saying, “I think it’s better to have a love for another sport than other things, don’t you think?”

The promoter-boxer pair has had an exemplary career together. For a long period, De La Hoya was Alvarez’s promoter. Unfortunately, the two had to part ways for some reason. The breakup resulted in a bitter feud between the two.

Surprisingly, ‘The Golden Boy of Boxing’ still feels for the Mexican and made a gesture toward him, despite the bitterness. The loss of the pound-for-pound king to Russian boxer, Dmitry Bivol, stunned millions of people. Following this, De La Hoya posted a tweet calling Alvarez for partnering again.

Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing is Alvarez’s current promoter. If De La Hoya’s words resonated with the Mexican, the two may be seen together in the coming days.

Who will Canelo Alvarez fight next?

The world’s gaze is always fixed on the 31-year-old Mexican fighter, Canelo Alvarez. His defeat to Bivol made it evident that a sequel was required. The bout was even agreed upon by both pugilists. However, Michael Benson of talkSPORT tweeted about Alvarez facing a different opponent.

As per Forbes, Alvarez stated, “We already had that contract, that deal so we have to continue what we started and I think those are the two biggest fights in boxing, the fight with Golovkin and the rematch with Bivol. Unfortunately, we lost [against Bivol], but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try again. The important thing here is perseverance and we’re going to do it again.”

Apparently, Saul Alvarez has decided to skip Bivol and take on Gennady Golovkin next.

Moreover, the two pugilists have already met in the ring twice. The first fight resulted in a disputed tie. The second bout, on the other hand, saw Alvarez emerge as the winner.
