Saul Alvarez, nicknamed ‘Canelo,’ is often billed as the face of boxing. Looking at his stellar career, alluring pro record and flamboyant personality, very few will debate that claim.

However, his in-ring achievements are still his prime identity, and Alvarez’s skills run in his bloodline. Hailing from a family of boxers, Canelo Alvarez became the most popular pugilist from his family.

However, his brothers have also made a commendable name for themselves in the professional circuit. In fact, hardcore fight fans are well aware of all his brothers. Unfortunately, the number of those fans is not a lot.

Canelo Alvarez- The Boxer and The Brother

Alvarez is the youngest son of all the eight children. He has six brothers and one sister, and all his brothers have become professional boxers. Nevertheless, only four of them competed on a global scale.

Ramon Alvarez, 28-8, is Canelo’s elder brother and currently hails from the middleweight division. He has never touched a world title but has some recognized belts under his name including the WBC United States Silver title.

He lost his last fight against Erislandy Lara via KO in 2019 and hasn’t appeared in the ring since then.

Meanwhile, Ricardo Alvarez is no longer active. Having set a record of 24-3-3, Ricardo Alvarez fought his last fight in 2014 against John Michael Johnson.

Rigoberto Alvarez, the former WBA Interim world champion is another brother of Canelo Alvarez. He retired almost a decade ago with a professional record of 27 wins and 4 losses.

He had an impressive undefeated run of 23 fights since his debut in 2000. However, he faced some tough losses later and called it a day.

But Canelo Alvarez continues to rule the charts as he is 53-1-2 in pro boxing at the age of 30 and is already a four-division world champion. While his other brothers have also laced up the boxing gloves at some point, the above-mentioned pugilists have made their family proud at a global level.
