Since the WBO light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol registered an upset win over the pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez, he has become a hotspot in boxing. It has also garnered boxing fans’ attention towards the ongoing turmoil of the light heavyweight division. Moreover, the recent announcement by Bivol’s promoter, Andrey Ryabinskiy, has added a new chapter of interest to it.

Andrey Ryabinskiy told Skysports, “We like both of these fighters [Beterbiev and Smith] very much. Bivol would be extremely interested in having a fight against the winner of this bout, especially if the winner is Artur Beterbiev. The fight between Bivol-Beterbiev is a long-awaited dream of all boxing fans.” [H/T: BoxingScene]

Undoubtedly, Bivol and Beterbiev are one of the biggest draws in boxing. Both are undefeated and belong to the same division, therefore a possibility of a clash between them for the undisputed throne is more interesting.

Notably, Beterbiev became the unified IBF, WBC, and WBO unified light heavyweight champ after stopping Joe Smith Jr. in the second round on Saturday. Therefore, a clash between Bivol and Beterbiev will unify four belts and give an undisputed division champion. Basically, the eyes of Bivol are on the undisputed championship at 175lbs.

Furthermore, Smith Jr. has already suffered a defeat against Bivol in the past.

Beterbiev’s promoter, Top Rank President Todd DuBoef, has expressed his interest in the idea of a Bivol fight. According to DuBoef, the talks for this fight happened, but due to the COVID pandemic, things changed. But now, he believes that this fight is bigger as Bivol has become a big name in boxing since he stunned the undisputed super-middleweight champion, Canelo Alvarez.

In an interview with SkySport, DuBoef said, “I think that division obviously got a bit of a boost when Bivol upset Canelo. But there will be plenty of options for the winner of this fight. “
