Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather was a once-in-a-generation talent who not only was the best in-ring technician but also defined how the business of boxing would move forward. Like the late great Muhammad Ali, Mayweather would lead a revolution where fighters could be in control of their careers and not under the promoters.

While many argue about its effect on boxing as a whole, it’s hard to deny that it has given boxers opportunities to make far more money than what was considered to be normal. Moreover, this even resulted in Mayweather becoming the richest boxer in the world and claiming that he is a billionaire. Despite this, many are still skeptical about if ‘Money’ was actually a billionaire. However, his former rival and world champion Adrien Broner thinks that Mayweather might be short on cash.

Adrien Broner thinks Floyd Mayweather has lost billions

In a recent appearance on the Round Da Way Podcast, Broner was questioned if Mayweather ever made a billion dollars off of boxing. Broner then went on to confirm that legendary promoter Al Haymon told him ‘TBE’ touched over $1 billion during his illustrious career. However, he stated that he doesn’t know if Mayweather still has his money.

Al Hamon told me out of his mouth he touched over it, Billy. Do he got it now? That’s another argument I can’t say now,” said Broner.

Al called me one day because I was having this crazy conversation and he just called me one day and was like you know that nig*a really. He really made that money. Every dollar not just 100 million, not that a billion dollars went through his hand,” he said.

Mayweather left Bob Arum’s Top Rank promotions back in 2006 after paying out a $750,000 buyout clause. This would lead to him becoming a free agent, after which he started his own promotion. The decision would turn out to be the best one of his life as he became a pioneer in the business side of the sport, as reported by Los Angeles Times.
