The punch was so devastating that Romero could not balance his body weight and fell on the canvas.

After scoring the winning shot, the most electrifying knockout machine, Gervonta Davis had a few words with the ring man. Amid heavy applause and cheering, the 27-year-old Baltimore stalwart recalled the epic trilogy between two boxing greats, Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez.

He compared his win over Rolando Romero to Juan Manuel Marquez’s knockout over Manny Pacquiao.

Notably, after one draw and two controversial decisions, the Filipino legend, Pacquiao and Mexican hero Marquez, decided to meet for the fourth and final time in the ring.

The pretty hyped showdown ended on an unexpected note. Manuel Marquez came out victorious with a deadly right hook. It was crafted so well that ‘Pacqman’ slept on the floor for a few minutes.

However, in Romero’s case, the shot and setup were identical. The only difference was that Romero was able to get up. But the results are similar as Romero could not gather himself well enough to fight. His legs were stumbling and his body language was not showing the signs of recovery, so the referee stopped the bout declaring a TKO win for Floyd Mayweather’s protege.

The fight began on a cautious note, though Romero seemed more in control during the initial stages of the fight. He landed the first shot and pushed the champion to his back foot. Initial rounds were good for Romero, he was scoring well and winning rounds over Davis.

However, things started to change when Davis came into the rhythm. Better defense and smooth footwork did well for Davis and he gave a finishing touch to the event in the 6th round, similar to Marquez’s victory.
