“Her Losing Had a Lot to Do With…”: Floyd Mayweather Once Kept His Bitter Rivalry Aside and Consoled Ronda Rousey Following Brutal KO Loss

Floyd Mayweather and Ronda Rousey are among the biggest star of their league. But whenever you read these names together, most of the time, the context one will find would be related to their intense rivalry. The duo was famous for taking digs at each other in the past. Though it was rare, the former five-weight division champ once praised Rousey after she faced a KO loss to Amanda Nunes.

Talking to FightHype.com, Mayweather said, “I want Ronda Rousey hold your head up, stay focused, keep believing, the true champion can bounce back, you’ll be okay, everything will be okay. I think that her losing had a lot to do with the time off. She may should have competed against another female MMA fighter that wasn’t as active as the female that she faced.”

Keeping aside his ongoing rivalry with the biggest female star in the UFC and MMA, ‘The Pretty Boy’ suggested Rousey take her time. According to Mayweather, it was not the end of the world. In Mayweather’s opinion, there was still a lot left in the champion.

The brawl between the two began in 2014 when Mayweather said that he did not know who Rousey was. This did not sit well with the former UFC welterweight champion. She came up with a bold response. Challenging Mayweather for a fight, she targeted him, highlighting his history of domestic violence.

Next Mayweather bragged about his wealth and asked Rousey to call him back when she made $300 million. Notably, Mayweather had clinched the biggest purse of his career in a mega-event of boxing with another boxing legend, Manny Pacquiao.

In response to this, Rousey hit back at Mayweather with a suggestion. She said if Mayweather wanted to be in touch with her, he first learn how to read and write.

Similar to these verbal exchanges, Mayweather and Rousey had many storylines.
