In a recent interview, 24-year-old Jake Paul finally addressed his rivalry with Tommy Fury. He shared he looks forward to facing the British pro-boxer and reality TV star. Paul also took shots at Fury by pointing out that even though he is undefeated, he has fought athletes with more combined losses than wins. The influencer-turned-boxer added that Fury has never had big pay-per-view events and that he needs to fight a real boxer.

“Yeah, I want to fight Tommy Fury, a hundred percent. He is seriously only famous because he’s put my name in his mouth and that’s the truth of the matter. The only time he gets press is when he talks about me.

“He’s fought bums, he is 5-0, but he’s fought guys that have a combined record of 10 wins and 250 losses. He has never done a big pay-per-view, he is a reality star, so he needs to fight someone real to do a big pay-per-view,” said Jake Paul.

Based on his comments on his latest podcast interview with Portnoy, it seems a Tommy Fury fight could come to fruition soon after Paul’s fight with Tyron Woodley. While Paul is criticized for choosing to fight athletes outside the boxing domain, Jake Paul has also taken shots at Tommy Fury for fighting boxers with significantly more losses than wins. Fury’s first professional fight in 2018 was against Jevgenijs Andrejevs, who holds a record of 10 wins, 102 losses, and 3 draws.

Tommy Fury vows to drop Jake Paul in thirty seconds

Tommy Fury (6-0-0) believes Jake Paul will walk over Tyron Woodley in their fight. He suggested that the 24-year-old would not have signed the contract if he did not know that he could win. Fury added he will be ready to fight Jake Paul as and when the opportunity presents itself. The 22-year-old British boxer recently released a video mocking the Ohio native by wearing a blonde wig. He warned Paul against competing against real boxers and vowed to put him away in less than thirty seconds.

Even after his last fight against Scotland’s Jordon Grant (2-1-0) in June 2021, Tommy fury and his father John called Jake Paul out in a post-fight BT Sport interview. John Fury first appreciated Paul for getting his game up. He then said that his son will be ready to take a fight with him on short notice as well. He initially wanted to fight Jake Paul on Tyson Fury’s undercard on July 24. However, Jake Paul and Tommy Fury are now taking this time to further build up their rivalry.

Based on his latest podcast interview with Dave Portnoy, it seems he is now giving serious consideration to Tommy Fury. This fight could act as Jake Paul’s foray into fighting professional boxers. Tommy Fury could also gain more recognition inside the boxing community.

Tyron Woodley is notorious for his vicious knockouts in the octagon. The five-time former UFC welterweight champion is indubitably Jake Paul’s toughest opponent yet. With a win over Woodley, the Ohio native will certainly have more cards on the table. August 29 could open doors for Paul to bigger cards like Kamaru Usman and possibly even Conor McGregor.
