Anthony Joshua has successfully defended his belts against a tough challenger in Kubrat Pulev. In the end, ‘AJ’ made light work of the fight by dominating the Bulgarian for 9 rounds; eventually getting the TKO. This now sets things up perfectly in the heavyweight division and is a big statement from Joshua. However, the bigger message was sent to arch-nemesis Tyson Fury, as many expected he would.

At the post-fight interview, Joshua spoke about his journey and said, “Last year right… 2019. Look, bro, I started this game in 2013, I’ve been chasing all the belts, I’ve been dealing with mandatories, of course, I want the challenge.”

He added, “It’s not about the opponent. It’s about the legacy and the belt. Whoever’s got the belt, I’d love to compete with ‘em. If that is Tyson Fury, let it be Tyson Fury. It’s no big deal.”

Thus suggesting that it’s not so much about the fight with Fury, but the prestigious undisputed champion of the world tag that pushes him to make that fight.

Can the Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight happen?

Despite Joshua’s call-out, fans will be skeptical about the fight getting agreed upon between the two parties. The ‘Gypsy King’ has not been in the ring since his victory over Deontay Wilder. Furthermore, Joshua has just had a fight, which means he will need a few months to recover and be ready again. Therefore, even though both camps will want the fight to be the next one, it will a difficult fight to make.
