“It’s All Ego” – Eddie Hearn Reacts to Bob Arum’s 40-40-20 Split Idea for Spence Jr. vs Crawford Fight

The only important fight that fans wish to see at the welterweight landscape is between Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford. But because of some uncertainties, the fight isn’t reaching terms, and its possibilities are diminishing with time. Despite this, Crawford’s promoter, Bob Arum, came up with 40-40-20 purse segregation to make this fight happen.
With this split, Arum vowed to allot 40% of the amount to both the fighters with the winner taking the additional 20%, to walk away with 60% of the total fight money.
But the Matchroom supremo, Eddie Hearn, scoffed over this proposal. In a chat on the AK and Barak Show, he said, “That’s almost like admitting the fight is not going to happen.”

“When has that ever happened in the sport of boxing? How many times have we heard that? ‘Ah, winner takes all.’ It’s kind of like a repeat conversation.”
Hearn continued, “I guess it can (happen), but it never will. I love Terence Crawford. And I know him better than I know Errol Spence, who I like as well. I just don’t understand the whole (thing).”
“I’m like, ‘What?’ It goes back to, it’s all ego, isn’t it? (h/t Boxing News)
Hearn asserted this fight can pin the ‘Bud’ as a Hall of Famer in boxing. And citing the same, Hearn feels Crawford should take the fight irrespective of the money involved.
