Social media personality turned boxer Jake Paul has become one of the most profitable athletes in the sport of boxing. Recently, former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson revealed that fighting Paul is more profitable than fighting a seasoned champion.

Tyson was hosting his ‘Hotboxin with Mike Tyson‘ podcast with co-host Sebastian Joseph-Day. Podcaster and sports commentator Joe Rogan was the guest for the episode.

In conversation, Rogan asked Tyson about a possible fight with Paul. He asked, “There was all this talk about you having a possible match with Lennox Lewis. And there was possibly like Jake Paul, there’s all these rumors.”

He further added, “Like everybody hears that you might do it for a giant chunk of money.”

In response, Tyson mentioned that Paul is better for business, saying, “Hey Jake Paul believe it or not, is more profitable than the champs.”

Tyson also added to his statement, by saying, “This guy probably brings like 80 million people, you know to the table. “

Rogan adds to Tyson’s statements by mentioning that the very idea of a young YouTuber facing the greatest heavyweight that ever lived is enough to draw crowds.

Jake Paul’s PPV dilemma

Paul’s huge social media fan base has been instrumental in his growing popularity as a boxer.

However, the same has not transferred to pay-per-view sales. Apparently, Paul’s recent rematch with Tyron Woodley only collected 65,000 pay-per-views on cable and satellite.

Each PPV was priced at USD 59.99, bringing the sales to a total of USD 3.89 million.

However, Paul rubbished the numbers. He took to social media to mention that 500k PPVs were sold.

Paul also mentioned that it has not been his best, saying, “Numbers for this one are still rolling in but still looking positive. Not my best business night.”

Moreover, he also added that fans are looking forward to his bout against Tommy Fury.
