In the Billy Joe Saunders fight, Canelo spent the first round decoding the former’s game plan and strategy. And right from the second round, he went full throttle on ‘Superb’, thus landing some extensive power hits.

The unified super-middleweight champ dictated the pace of the fight and didn’t let Saunders take full control of the ring. Canelo, who kept the fans intrigued by going toe-to-toe against Saunders, remained fairly successful in exhibiting his game plan.

Moving further, it was in round 8, when the Guadalajara boxer struck Saunders with a thunderous uppercut. This punch damaged ‘Superb’s right eye to a massive extent, forcing him to retire.

With this win, Saul Alvarez shut the naysayers.
