Boxing as a sport has evolved a lot since its inception and has become one of the most popular forms of combat sports. However, this has also led to various different types of promotions emerging that have tried to make the sport more exciting with Bare knuckle boxing emerging as a standout branch of the sport. While boxers usually use 10 to 12-oz gloves while practicing the sweet science, bare-knuckle boxing takes away the padding entirely.

Although this does add some entertainment value to the product, this kind of fighting also poses some serious threats to the safety of fighters. Moreover, there have been cases where fighters were brutally knocked out, in promotions where fighter safety is certainly not a priority. This is the reason why many orthodox boxing promoters and fighters have slammed this type of boxing. Moreover, renowned promoter Lou DiBella was also quick to slam BKFC after they announced their upcoming lineup for their next event.

A Twitter post revealed the boxers with a professional record for the lineup of the knuckle main card. This included names like Austin Trout, Greg Hardy, and Josh Moreno. However, it also included Derek Perez, who has a lackluster record of 3-21-1. Moreover, DiBella was quick to point this out as he sounded off on the lineup claiming that Perez had been knocked out 15 times in his last 25 fights. In addition, he stated that him being on this card was nothing short of a death sentence for the struggling fighter.

Same Derek Perez who’s already been knocked out 15 TIMES IN 25 FIGHTS!!! Let’s just take off those gloves and try to kill a guy who shouldn’t be fighting. Wtf. Barbaric and all too common throughout all genres of “#boxing”. SMFH,” he wrote.
