“Loma Is Gonna Smash Him”- Billy Joe Saunders Predicts Vasyl Lomachenko vs Teofimo Lopez

WBO super-middleweight titleholder Billy Joe Saunders spoke to IFL TV ahead of one of the most anticipated match-ups. Vasyl Lomachenko is set to take on Teofimo Lopez in a fight that will shape the victor’s career in a massive way. The aforementioned elite boxers will scrap for the IBF lightweight title at the MGM Grand Conference Centre.

Teofimo Lopez hasn’t yet touched the ceiling of his potential and he will be keen to make a massive statement against ‘Loma’. He’s well-sized for the weight class and brings forth speed that Vasyl is used to exerting on his opponents. Not to mention, the physicality isn’t the only narrative heading into the fight. The bout is sure to be a chess match stylistically with high boxing IQ being displayed.

Billy Joe Saunders predicts Lomachenko vs Lopez

The undefeated boxer was clear on his stance as to who would come out victorious in the aforementioned clash. The boxing community as a whole are split as to who will come out on top, however, Billy Joe Saunders saw it as more definitive.

“People’s hyping them up. People’s hyping them all up. Loma is gonna smash him, smash him. Listen it’s gonna be a comfortable night’s work. Lopez gonna come forward, alright he’s got good counters but he’s gonna come forward. That’s not gonna beat him.”

The fact that Lomachenko is fighting outside his original weight class is a cause for concern for some pundits and fans. Chiefly, Billy Joe believes that ‘Hi-Tech’s status as one of the best pound for pound fighters is enough to bring a comfortable win.

Additionally, the 29-0 fighter in Billy Joe was asked about whether he took anything away from the intense face-off. Moreover,  he commented on the fact that Vasyl’s composure would help him win the day come to Fight Night.

“Yes (on seeing the face-off). I didn’t take nothing from that. Lomachenko looks cool, calm, and collected. He’s gonna get the job done.”

The bout is expected to be more competitive than Billy Joe Saunders has claimed it will be. Although besting the former Olympian in ‘Loma’ is a tall task, Teofimo believes he has the right tools.
