Miguel Berchelt’s title defense against Oscar Valdez finally has a date. Top Rank initially set the fight for their December 12 end of the year card. However, Berchelt contracted COVID-19, and the Shakur Stevenson vs Toka Kahn Clary card replaced the event.

Top Rank confirmed the fight on their Twitter and now the two fighters will now meet on February 20, 2021, and will compete for the WBC super-featherweight title. This promises to be a fantastic event as highly rated Gabriel Flores will take on Andrew Cancio as the co-main event on the night.

Berchelt is coming off a victory over Eleazar Valenzuela in June 2020. However, the fight did not count as a victory on his record since there was no commission present. Valdez is undefeated and is coming into the fight on the back of a TKO victory over Jayson Velez.

Berchelt has a knockout percentage of over 84%; Valdez boasts a knockout rate of 78%. This gives you an idea of how this fight could possibly go. The duo has lost a combined one professional fight out of 65 entered, and given their knockout percentages, fans are in for a cracker of a bout.

The date of the fight will be a big surprise to many, as Top Rank has scheduled it for February 20. However, this is the date that Mayweather will take on YouTuber, turned pro boxer, Logan Paul. Although, this fight will be available for free on ESPN, unlike the Mayweather-Paul fight.

Despite this fight being an actual title fight, it will have to deal with stiff competition from that fight. Both Mayweather and Logan have a huge following and will bring in record numbers. Although, there is no doubt which of the two will be a better fight for boxing fans.
