Heavyweight historian, and former champion, Mike Tyson, has seen different sides of boxing. From the glory and the fame to the dirty politics and controversies, ‘Iron’ Mike has been a part of several headlines throughout his glittering career.
However, boxing politics found a way to him much before he became a global superstar. Mike Tyson claimed he was robbed of a win at the amateur level, and in his recent interaction with Teofimo Lopez, the heavyweight legend talked about the incident.
Unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez faced similar experiences at the amateur circuit, and he could relate to Tyson’s remarks.

On his podcast, Tyson said, “I am talking about some of the officials, how they favor the system.”
He added, “I am talking about him going in there and BOOM and they didn’t know they did make it dirty. They robbed me… They get percentages from these guys when they get pro, they get money, this s*** is.”
Lopez’s after who accompanied him chimed in and revealed how Lopez was snubbed off a victory before the Olympics. Nevertheless, Tyson and Lopez made it big at the professional level and became world champions. So, these instances didn’t really derail their careers.

What’s next for Teofimo Lopez and Mike Tyson?
Teofimo Lopez, the unified 135 lbs champion, will look forward to testing himself against the other unbeaten lightweight champions. At this stage, he can pick his opponent from a pool full of big names. But Tyson might want him to face WBC champion, Devin Haney.
In his podcast, Tyson instigated a fight between Lopez and Hany as he face-timed ‘The Dream’ to shed heat on the ongoing lightweight talks. But nothing is official as of now, and Lopez is still without an opponent.
