The ‘Cinnamon’ will be fighting in Mexico for the first time in the last 11 years. He last fought in his home country to defend his WBO Junior Middleweight title. In an interview with Snow Queen, Alvarez expressed his excitement to be able to fight in Mexico after such a long wait. He said, “I am so excited to come back home at the peak of my career and bring my people the experience that I have been involved in these years.” Alvarez was further asked about him losing money in this fight and the champ had a delightful answer to that.

Alvarez said, “Sometimes money is not everything. For me the most important thing is to bring to Jalisco for the people.” The people of Guadalajara have indeed waited a long time to witness the Alvarez fighting live on home soil. Eddie Hearn on Alvarez losing money for the fight
The British Promoter recalled the time when he went to Eddy Reynoso and Alvarez for potential venues for the fight. He said, “We’ve got enough for Middle east, Las Vegas. We looked at one Sofi stadium.” But, as lucrative as these offers seem, Alvarez rejected the offers in the first instance and said, “No it’s time to bring it home for the people,” Hearn added.
