Oleksandr Usyk Becomes the First Heavyweight Since Mike Tyson To Achieve This Amazing Feat

Following the defeat of Canelo Alvarez, the Ring Magazine has updated its pound-for-pound list. In the new list, the undisputed super-middleweight champion secured the 6th spot and the Ukrainian stalwart Oleksandr Usyk clinched the crown. He became the new pound-for-pound king.

By securing the first spot on the pound-for-pound list, the unified WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight champion has accomplished a new record that was previously held by Mike Tyson.

According to Michael Benson of talkSport, Usyk is the first heavyweight champion in the last 30 years to garner such accolades.

Notably, in September 2021, Usyk sent a spark through the boxing world. He registered one of the biggest upsets in the history of boxing. ‘The Cat’ outboxed British star heavyweight Anthony Joshua.

The champ held the crown of pound-for-pound in his prime days. Then champ was a devastating fighter. He was a knockout machine. He became the youngest heavyweight champion ever.

In total, ‘The Baddest Man on Planet’ fought 58 bouts. His record says that he won 44 bouts by way of knockout. The champ retired as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.
