Boxing Promoter Bob Arum Reveals Possible Opponents for Tyson Fury

After Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 3 failed to materialize, several questions were raised regarding the “Gypsy King’s” next opponent. Since Fury has stated his intention of fighting once this year, fans want to know his next opponent. Recently, promoter Bob Arum dropped a bunch of names that could fight the WBC heavyweight champion in December.
Fury vs Wilder 2 was a highly anticipated match in the heavyweight division. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for Fury vs Wilder 3, as Fury dominated the second fight and almost won the first one. It would have been an exciting match, but not as intense as the first two.

But Why? Well, fans are more interested in watching Tyson Fury go toe-to-toe with Anthony Joshua more than Wilder. The fight makes sense from the competitors’ as well as the promoters’ perspective. The winner of that fight will become the undisputed heavyweight champion, as both boxers hold all major titles in the heavyweight division.
Now that Fury is no longer obligated to fight Wilder, Fury vs AJ would have been the perfect Christmas present. However, Anthony Joshua is scheduled to defend his titles against IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev first. As a result, Tyson Fury is left without an opponent.
Tyson Fury’s possible opponents revealed
As mentioned before, Fury wants to fight this year. He is willing to take a tune-up bout before fighting Anthony Joshua next year. There are a few contenders Fury can choose at the moment. Most of the boxers are scheduled to fight, and that leaves the Britisher with five or six names that he can battle in 2020.

“We end up with five guys who are possible. There’s Efe [Ajagba], the African is there. There’s Agit [Kabayel], [Oscar] Rivas is there, and there are two others that are there. We’ll have to pick out, see who’s available and pick it out. I mean, Rivas and Efe are Top Rank fighters, and I’m sure we could arrange for them to be available.”

There is no doubt that any of the aforementioned names will be a good tune-up fight for Fury. However, the Anthony Joshua fight is still months away, and Joshua must get through a dangerous Kubrat Pulev first.
Fury cannot take his upcoming fight lightly either. The heavyweight division is risky territory, and Dillian Whyte showed us why.
