Sean Garcia vs Rene Marquez (lightweight bout, 4 rounds of boxing)
The fight card gets underway with Ryan Garcia’s brother, Sean, taking on Rene Marquez. The younger Garcia is also undefeated in his first five professional fights. He will be looking to extend that streak against the experienced Marquez, who is on a three-fight skid.
Garcia has all the advantages in terms of height, reach, age, and speed. Furthermore, he fights with a southpaw stance which is always a tricky affair.

‘Sugar Rush’ has also been training with Canelo Alvarez, and going by the footage, it seems he has too much for Marquez to handle. Thus, we are going with a Sean Garcia victory via TKO in the third round.

Raul Curiel vs Ramses Agaton (Welterweight bout, 10 rounds of boxing)
In the second fight of the card, former Mexican Olympian Raul Curiel takes on compatriot Ramses Agaton. Curiel is relatively young in his professional career, with only 8 professional fights under his belt. However, he is unbeaten with 6 KO wins.
Agaton, on the other hand, is more experienced with 37 professional fights. However, he has a mixed record with 22 victories, 12 defeats, and 3 draws.
Despite Agaton having more experience, we are going with Raul Curiel for this one. The 25-year-old has fast hands and can take a fair bit of damage.
Though inexperienced, in the professional scene, he is still a powerful prospect and will knockout Agaton in the 5th round.

Felix Alvarado vs DeeJay Kriel (IBF light-flyweight title bout, 12 rounds of boxing)
The first of the two title fights sees champion Felix Alvarado take on South African DeeJay Kriel. The champion is coming off a 17-fight win streak, while the challenger is unbeaten in his last 17 fights. This promises to be a close and entertaining fight, with both fighters having a similar skill-set.
However, the decisive factor will be the experience that Alvarado possesses. He has had 37 professional bouts while Kriel has had 18.
Rene Alvarado vs Roger Gutierrez (WBA super-featherweight title bout, 12 rounds of boxing)
The last fight before the main event could be another cracker. WBA super-featherweight champion Rene Alvarado takes on 28-fight veteran Roger Gutierrez. The belt holder has claimed 32 wins in 40 fights and is on an 8-fight win streak.

Alvarado is capable of getting into a slug-fest as well as fighting smart. In his last fight against Andrew Cancio, he displayed his ability to take big shots and still keep the pressure.
Gutierrez is more of a ‘move and counter’ type of fighter. However, his power is undeniable and he could finish the fight with one punch. Despite this, we think Rene Alvarado will use his experience and defend his belt with a 10-round stoppage. However, this fight will be very close.
This makes the event one that fight fans cannot afford to miss. It provides a fantastic way to start the new year. Furthermore, it shows that there is a lot more to a card than just the main event. Let us know your predictions for the fights.
