Dillian Whyte has been the No. 1 challenger for more than 900 days. Regardless, he has still not received a shot at the heavyweight crown. Instead, Tyson Fury fought the WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder and ended up beating him earlier this year. With a trilogy between Wilder and Fury set for later this year, the chances that Whyte receives his long due shot are pretty thin.

Tyson Fury shares a message that he had sent to Dillian Whyte

Tyson Fury is contractually obligated to fight Deontay Wilder for a third time later this year. If he gets past Wilder, he will face Anthony Joshua for the unification of the belts next year.

Given Fury’s schedule, it looks difficult to squeeze in Whyte somewhere. However, Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn has expressed hope that his client can fight for the belt sometime at the beginning of next year. Meanwhile, ‘The Body Snatcher’ will defend the interim belt against Alexander Povetkin in August.
