WATCH: Zhilei Zhang Claims a Dominating First Round KO Victory Over Scott Alexander: Canelo vs Bivol Undercard Results

Boxing fans were undoubtedly excited to witness the main event WBA (super) light heavyweight title clash between undefeated reigning champion Dmitry Bivol and undisputed current super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. Ahead of that bout, they got a treat on the undercard in the heavyweight fight between Zhilei Zhang and Scott Alexander.

Initially, Zhang was scheduled to face Filip Hrgovic in an IBF title eliminator bout. However, Hrgovic had to pull out from the fight on May 2 due to his father’s demise. As a result, Scott Alexander stepped in on short notice, and this fight was no more a title eliminator bout.

Zhang, (23-0-1) was coming off a dominating knockout victory over Craig Lewis. Meanwhile, Alexander, who was 16-5-2 coming into the fight, suffered a loss to Carlos Negron in his last outing.

The fight between the pair started slowly, with both measuring each other. However, Zhang landed a clean left on Alexander’s chin that dropped the latter on the canvas.

This intriguing heavyweight bout resulted in Zhang claiming a dominating KO victory over Alexander in just 1:54 minutes of the first round.
